BIO

MARY Z. ASHLOCK, Ph.D.

 

Mary Z. Ashlock is a Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Louisville.  She earned her Ph.D. in Communication at Florida State University. 

 

Mary has worked in higher education and business for 34 years.  She became a senior consultant for 13 years at Cornelius & Associates, a training and consulting firm specializing in helping clients improve business results in the areas of teamwork, leadership development and project management.  Her background includes work in human relations, and customer service, in a variety of business and manufacturing industries.  Mary moved to the University of Louisville in 2006 to join the Department of Communication where she specializes in teaching and research in organizational and business communication. 

 

During Mary’s time at the university, she has been named as a Faculty Favorite and was honored as one of the Most Distinguished Professors at the University of Louisville in 2022.   She was recognized with the National Communication Association Outstanding Tenured Teaching Award in 2023.    

 

Mary has published numerous research articles, book chapters and co-edited several books.  Her current research focuses on millennials in higher education and business.  

Dr. Ashlock will be conducting research within the bourbon industry in Kentucky in 2025.
