BIO

Dr. Melissa Lloyd is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Louisville, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education and supervises student teachers. Dr. Lloyd was previously an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Florida for the Master of Music in Music Education online program. She taught graduate courses in history and philosophy of music education, assessment in music education, and instructional design. Additionally, she served as an advisor for student capstone projects. Dr. Lloyd received her Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Florida, her Master of Music in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University, and her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Arizona.

 

Prior to teaching at the collegiate level, Dr. Lloyd taught elementary and middle school general music in Maryland, working in the Archdiocese of Washington and Washington County Public Schools. Upon moving to Florida, Dr. Lloyd taught early childhood and elementary general music in Alachua County Public Schools. During her tenure as a general music teacher, Dr. Lloyd created and maintained extra-curricular music programs including chorus, musical theater, and handbell choir.
