Michael S. Orangias, M.D., is a pediatric pulmonologist and pediatric sleep medicine specialist with Norton Children’s Pulmonology and Norton Children's Sleep Medicine, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. 

He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville, where he also completed residency in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. After residency, he stayed on for pediatric pulmonology fellowship training and also completed coursework to obtain a master's degree in clinical science. He then later pursued subspecialty training in sleep medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, and after completion came back to Louisville to practice Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep medicine. 

He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Pediatrics, with subspecialty board certification in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine through the American Board of Pediatrics.

His focus is on clinical work and teaching, with some participation in research as well. He received the Chairman’s Achievement Award from the Department of Pediatrics in recognition of research for both residency and fellowship in 2019 and 2022 respectively. He also received the Med-Peds Resident Teacher of the Year award in 2019. 

Dr. Orangias is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. 

Prior to pursuing medicine, Dr. Orangias was a musical performer and instructor. In his free time he still enjoys playing music, in addition to spending time with his wonderful wife, son, family, and dogs.
