Professor Mnotho Ngcobo joined Brandeis Law in Fall 2024. His teaching and scholarship focus on dispute resolution, mediation and health law, with additional research exploring the role of technology in conflict resolution and clinical decision-making.

He has taught property law, torts, bioethics and public health law, and international law at law schools in Africa and Asia, including North-West University in South Africa and O.P. Jindal Global University in India. His practice experience includes founding and directing his own firm, M.T. Ngcobo Attorneys, and practicing with Abdool Gaffoor Parasram in South Africa.

Professor Ngcobo has held fellowships with the American Bar Association Section on Dispute Resolution and the University of Missouri–Columbia (Ivan Rugema Fellowship). His ABA research examined the impact of technology on dispute resolution, while his Missouri fellowship focused on arbitration and mediation. His publications consider alternatives to litigation, the role of judges as mediators, managing emotions in conflict resolution, and the implications of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology in online dispute resolution.

He is currently completing his Ph.D. dissertation on the legal and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in clinical decision-making at the University of South Africa.
