TEACHING & MENTORING
My teaching approach is grounded in a student-centered, application-driven philosophy that emphasizes continuous improvement, mentorship, and real-world relevance. Drawing on my experiences as a tutor, instructor, and postdoctoral teaching fellow, I strive to create inclusive learning environments where students engage deeply with material through multiple modalities, including collaborative learning, hands-on activities, and project-based design. Central to my pedagogy is guiding students to apply engineering principles to authentic problems, fostering both technical competence and critical thinking.
At the University of Louisville, I teach across the bioengineering curriculum, including Biotransport Phenomena, Advanced Biomaterials, Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and a seminar course that connects students with leaders in engineering, medicine, and industry. Through these courses, I emphasize interdisciplinary connections, practical application, and ethical considerations, helping students understand how their work contributes to society. My seminar course further expands student perspectives by exposing them to emerging research trends and professional pathways.
In addition to teaching, I serve as the Director of the Master of Engineering (MEng) program, where I oversee student progression and ensure successful degree completion. This role includes mentoring graduate students, coordinating program requirements, and managing annual reporting for accreditation bodies, ensuring that our program maintains high standards of academic quality and continuous improvement.
Mentorship is a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. I cultivate supportive relationships with students both inside and outside the classroom, recognizing their academic and personal development as interconnected. My commitment to accessibility, adaptability, and student success has resulted in strong student outcomes, meaningful mentoring relationships, and recognition for my contributions to student achievement.
Overall, my goal is to provide a transformative educational experience that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel in engineering and make meaningful contributions to society.
