Medical Student Chapter

· National initiative developed by the American Society of Nephrology and implemented across several medical centers nationwide

· Dual mission of promoting community-based medical education to preclinical medical students, along with developing exposure and interest to careers in nephrology

· Lead first- and second-year University of Louisville medical students to conduct health screenings in underserved areas of Louisville. 14 health screenings done to present and over 280 individuals in the underserved community screened for diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease.

· Developed an annual networking luncheon event between medical students and University of Louisville clinical and research faculty. Five annual events conducted to date.

Supervision of nephrology fellows/residents, medical students during 8 to10 weeks of inpatient clinical service per year

· Weekend and holiday supervision of nephrology fellows, residents, students on inpatient clinical services

· Clinical nephrology lectures to nephrology fellows, internal medicine residents, and students: 1-4 per year related to general nephrology and hypertension

· Consistently positive teaching evaluations with an average score of 99.3% between January 2019 and January 2020.
