Dr. Alard's emphasis is in education and research education. She participates in the education of graduate students, medical students and dental students, and is the Director of five Graduate courses and co-Director of a Dental Microbiology and Immunology course.
She also has a big involvement in service. She is currently the Director of a Postbaccalaureate program, UL-DRIVE, geared toward helping graduates gain more experience in research and acquire skills that will help them be successful in a PhD program, and is the former Director of a NIH-funded Postbaccalaurete program, UL-BIOMED-PREP. In addition, she serves on many University of Louisville committees such as the University Committee for Animal Welfare (UCAW) and the School of Medicine Admission Committee.
She still collaborates on research about autoimmunity and gut microbiota.
