Dr. Phylicia Odume is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Louisville’s Brown Cancer Center. Originally from Ghana, her journey into medicine reflects a deep passion for science and service. She earned her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Brigham Young University and her medical degree from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing her Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Oklahoma.

Committed to advancing equity in healthcare, Dr. Odume works to diversify the field of radiation oncology and improve access to cancer care worldwide. She serves as faculty advisor for the Healthcare Access and Advancement (HAAS) Subcommittee of the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO) and contributes to the planning committee for the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO)’s Aspiring Scientist and Physicians Program. Her research and advocacy focus on expanding cancer treatment in underserved communities and reducing both financial and treatment-related burdens for patients.

Dr. Odume is an active member of leading professional organizations, including ASTRO, the American College of Radiation Oncology, the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the National Medical Association (NMA), and the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC).
