BIO
Dr. Devlin earned her doctorate in History from the University of Florida, where she also was the instructor for courses on the Roman Empire, the Middle Ages and World Christianity. While pursuing her Masters in History at San Francisco State University, Dr. Devlin taught filmmaking, newswriting and Spanish to middle and high school students. Dr. Devlin’s research examines the social, political, economic and cultural transformations associated with the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, expansion of Christianity and emergence of medieval society. The geographic focus for her recent book is the Iberian Peninsula and she has participated in archaeological excavations of Roman and medieval sites in Portugal and Türkiye. Her current project explores the intersection of religious and commercial networks in the ancient world. At UofL, she teaches World Civilizations and upper division and graduate courses on Medieval Spain, Ancient Greece and Rome, and Digital History.
