Dr. Rebecca Gesler is an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville School of Nursing with more than three decades of experience in nursing practice, leadership, and education. She teaches across undergraduate and accelerated programs, specializing in pediatrics, community health, NCLEX preparation, and transitions to professional practice. She also serves as an ATI Champion and as a clinical mentor for part-time clinical faculty.
Dr. Gesler earned her EdD in Educational Leadership from Spalding University, where her research focused on the impact of nutritional and physical fitness education on children’s health behaviors. She also holds an MSN in Nursing Administration and Education, a BSN from the University of Louisville, and a certificate in LGBT Health.
A recognized leader in nursing education, Dr. Gesler has authored peer-reviewed publications, presented at national conferences, and received numerous awards, including the University of Louisville Distinguished Teaching Faculty Award (2025), multiple Outstanding Faculty Awards, the Kentucky Association of Nursing Students Teacher of the Year Award, and the Iota Zeta Rebecca Gesler Inaugural Mentoring Award. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, and the Society of Pediatric Nurses.
