I am a surgeon that specializes in trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care. I received my bachelors form Presbyterian College (Clinton, SC), my medical degree from University of Louisville, and completed my general surgery residency and my critical care fellowship at University of Chicago.  During my residency I also compeled my PhD in Immunology form University of Chicago Committee on Immunology.  I am currently an assistant profesor in the department of surgery with a translational research lab investigating the role of the gut microbiota in trauma and critical illness.
