As Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Louisville, I have led with a collaborative vision focused on interdisciplinary integration, research innovation, and equitable cancer care delivery. I have fostered strong partnerships with two health care systems: Norton Cancer Institute and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.  I have worked extensively with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, interventional radiology and radiology to initiate and expand access to multidisciplinary tumor boards and co-develop streamlined care pathways for patients with complex GI and HPB malignancies.

I have championed collaborative translational research through co-leadership of the GI and Hepatobiliary Disease Working Group, bringing together basic scientists, immunologists, and biostatisticians to pursue and obtain NIH- and foundation-supported projects. This team-based approach has yielded successful funding for studies focused on immunotherapeutic modulation in pancreatic, hepatocellular, and colorectal cancers.

At the national level, I serve as a PI for multiple multi-institutional trials through Investigator Initiated, the Alliance and NRG Oncology cooperative groups. Through these collaborations, the University of Louisville has become a more active contributor to national conversations on the future of surgical oncology care and clinical trial design.

Through these collaborative efforts, I aim to influence not just our institutional growth, but also the broader landscape of academic surgical oncology by promoting excellence, equity, and team science.
