TEACHING & MENTORING
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching nursing students at all levels, ranging from nursing assistants to doctoral candidates. Although I have instructed nearly every course in the nursing curriculum, my expertise does not extend to pediatrics and women's health. With a robust background in intensive care units (ICUs) and emergency rooms (ERs), I bring real-world critical care experience to the classroom, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to excel in high-stakes environments. This practical experience allows me to deliver comprehensive, relatable, and up-to-date content in critical care courses.
Moreover, my extensive background in mental health, developed over two decades, has prepared me to teach mental health nursing with a depth of understanding and empathy. This focus enables me to impart crucial psychological and psychiatric skills to students, enriching their ability to provide holistic patient care. My approach emphasizes the importance of mental health across various clinical scenarios, ensuring students appreciate its integral role in patient outcomes.
In the classroom, I use evidence-based teaching strategies to engage students actively and foster critical thinking. Implementing case studies, simulation exercises, and interactive discussions, I create an immersive learning environment that bridges theory and practice. My teaching extends beyond the classroom, as I also lead clinical rotations. Here, I mentor students on the frontline, guiding them through real patient interactions and clinical decision-making. This hands-on experience is invaluable, providing students with the confidence and competence needed to navigate complex clinical situations.
My commitment to nursing education is unwavering, and I am dedicated to continually enhancing my teaching methods. By integrating my clinical expertise in critical care and mental health, I aim to develop well-rounded, compassionate nurses who are prepared to meet the diverse needs of their patients. Through both academic and clinical instruction, I strive to equip future nurses with the skills, knowledge, and empathy necessary for a successful and fulfilling career in healthcare.
My students consistently express that I am an exceptional teacher, highlighting my engaging, compassionate, and effective teaching style. They appreciate my ability to make complex concepts understandable through real-world examples drawn from my extensive experience in critical care and mental health. They find my interactive and evidence-based teaching methods particularly enriching and feel empowered by the hands-on clinical guidance I provide. My dedication to their learning and professional growth is evident, making them feel supported and well-prepared for their nursing careers. Their feedback reflects their gratitude and recognition of my commitment to their success and well-being.
