BIO

Dr. Russ Farmer is an Associate Professor of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Louisvlle, practicing at University of Louisville, Norton's, and Jewish Hospitals.  He also holds a dual-appointment on the Dean's Staff as the Associate Dean for Facutly Affairs and Advancement.  Dr. Farmer is recognized for his surgical skill in the treatment of all forms of Colon and Rectal Disease.  He has particular interest in the treatment of fecal incontinence and pelvic floor issues via Sacral Nerve Neuromodulation, receiving multiple research grants, publications, presentations, and hundreds of happy patients as a result.  

 

Dr. Farmer has passion for education.  A favorite of all trainees for his skill and dedication in this arena, he has received every possible educational award for which a teacher of medicine is eligible at the University of Louisville.  He has previously served as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Skills, overseeing all clinical education for the UofLSOM.  Most recently, he served as the Sr. Associate Dean for Curriculum, overseeing all curricular aspects of the University of Louisville SOM.  He was the first ever graduate of the University of Louisville's Masters in Health Professions Education, now teaching and developing this degree's curriculum.
