Sarah Schirmer, DNP, M.Ed., APRN, PMHNP-BC has worked in mental health care since 2003, beginning as a therapeutic aid through the Kentucky IMPACT program and then as a licensed professional clinical counselor before earning her BSN in 2010 and becoming a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner in 2015. Since 2017, she has specialized in treating eating disorders and OCD in outpatient settings. She is working to establish a practice that enhances accessibility and affordability of evidence-based, high-quality care for individuals with obsessive-compulsive and related disorders as well as eating disorders. She has served on faculty at the University of Louisville School of Nursing since 2019, where she co-coordinates the PMHNP track. Dr. Schirmer also represents the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives and serves as vice-chair of the Kentucky Eating Disorder Council.
