Dr. Sherry Babbage Melisizwe has built her career on a longstanding commitment to service, education, and community impact. She began her connection with the University of Louisville as an undergraduate in medical technology. She later earned her DMD at the School of Dentistry. After completing her degree, Dr. Babbage entered private practice on West Broadway, combining her clinical work with a dedication to addressing oral health needs within a predominantly African American community. She subsequently returned to the School of Dentistry as a faculty member, progressing from part‑time to full‑time while teaching students and treating patients in the emergency clinic. Her efforts during the COVID‑19 pandemic were recognized with a COVID‑19 Heroes award for sustaining essential clinical services. She was honored as the University of Louisville School of Dentistry's Alumni Fellow in 2021.
