Dr. Shorye Durrett is the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, focusing on academic success, professionalism, and holistic student support.  She collaborates with a dedicated team to promote student belonging, engagement tracking, and learning development. She serves as liaison to both MD‑PhD students and the Student Honor and Professionalism Advocacy Council.  She is unwavering in her committment to support student inclusion and advocate for those with disabilities . A dedicated mentor, she created a myriad of student initiatives including a pilot program connecting medical students to vision‑science research culminating an annual research showcase. In her hybrid role at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center, she champions excellence for veterans as a medical retina specialist and IRB Chair.  She advances resident development and creates professional opportunities, in addition to establishing endowments that prepare future leaders in eye care. All of her efforts culminates in her mission as a vision ambassador honoring God to carry out her life's purporse.
