Dr. Sundes Elfagih is a general dentist with a special interest in operative dentistry and Esthetic Dentistry. She serves as an assistant professor and course director for the Evidence‑Based Dentistry II course at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. 

After she earned her dental degree, she completed a master’s degree in Health Administration at Webster University. During her time in St. Louis, Missouri, she also worked as a medical English‑Arabic interpreter—an experience that strengthened her commitment to clear communication, patient advocacy, and culturally responsive care.

Dr. Elfagih spent a three‑year residency in Advanced Education of Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where she also earned a Master of Science in Oral Science with a focus on dental biomaterials and cariology. Dr. Elfagih learned the main concepts of minimal invasive dentistry, esthetic rehabilitations, and caries disease management from the pioneers of dental composites and dental biomaterials. She also taught three years exclusively in the Operative Dentistry field. Dr. ELfagih was recognized as a Person‑Centered Care Provider upon graduation . Then, went on to teach in the Department of Family Dentistry and in the Admissions and Emergency Clinic where she enriched her comprehensive care experience.

Her research interests include adhesive dentistry, dentin biomodulation, cariology, institution‑based quality improvement, and esthetic dentistry.

Board‑certified by the American Board of General Dentistry, she brings more than six years of experience in teaching, patient care, and research to her work as an evidence driven clinician‑educator.
