Dr. Sung Jin Kim is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Louisville and Director of the Micro/Nano Technology Center (MNTC). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2008. After completing a postdoctoral appointment at the Institute of Lasers, Photonics, and Biophotonics at SUNY Buffalo, he joined the University of Miami, where he played a key role in establishing the university’s nanofabrication facility and served as its founding director. The facility is part of the Biomedical Nanotechnology Institute of the University of Miami (BioNIUM) and supports interdisciplinary research collaborations across engineering, basic sciences, and medicine.

Dr. Kim joined the University of Louisville in 2023. As director of MNTC, he oversees a major research infrastructure that supports micro- and nanotechnology research across multiple disciplines. MNTC is part of the National Science Foundation’s National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI), a nationwide network of shared facilities that enable advanced nanotechnology research and workforce training.
