Dr. Rote is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Research in the Kent School of Social Work and Family Science at the University of Louisville. She completed her NIA T-32 postdoctoral training in minority health and aging with an emphasis on caregiving and aging in the Mexican-origin population at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Rote is a sociologist and gerontologist, and her research focuses on how social and cultural forces shape health patterns in mid- and late-life. Dr. Rote has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and 10 book chapters and she has recieved funding from the National Institute on Aging (R03AG059107; NIA LRP 0925-0361). Some of her recent publications include: “Gender-Based Pathways to Cognitive Aging in the Mexican-Origin Population in the U.S.: The Significance of Work and Family” and “Caregiving Across Diverse Populations: New Evidence from the National Study of Caregiving (NSOC) and Hispanic EPESE (H-EPESE).”

Locally, Dr. Rote has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Aging (KIPDA) on her community-engaged research with dementia caregivers.
