Dr. Handique is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Kent School of Social Work and Family Science at the University of Louisville. Dr. Handique primarily on older adults in palliative care and/or end-of-life care, or any life-limiting illnesses, with an emphasis on addressing health disparities among marginalized populations. She also navigates how caregiving dynamics and healthcare accessibility shape decision-making and quality of life of both the care recipient and their caregiver. Her work employs mixed-methods, and meta-synthesis approaches to explore how structural factors influence treatment and care trajectories while evaluating the effectiveness of interventions aimed at promoting equitable and person-centered care.
