Trysh Wahlig is Assistant Professor and Head of Graphic Design at the Hite Institute of Art + Design, University of Louisville. Her work focuses on communication and information design, with particular emphasis on how diagramming and evidence-based illustration can make complex information—especially in health contexts—more understandable and usable.

Professor Wahlig brings extensive design strategy experience from outside academia, where she translated research and R&D initiatives into integrated experiences that build strong connections between organizations and the people they serve. She has presented workshops and talks internationally, including at the Participatory Design Conference (Trento) and most recently at the AIGA Design Educators Conference. Her design projects span environments, brands, identities, and communication systems that blur traditional disciplinary boundaries.

At Louisville, Professor Wahlig leads the Graphic Design area, coordinating curriculum and studios, and developing partnerships that connect students with production and critique—most notably through the Canon-supported Digital Print Lab. She curates student submissions to international competitions, with multiple Canon Inkjet Lab recognitions.

Professor Wahlig's service encompasses academic leadership in studio operations and hiring (tenure-track search chair), program and operations committees, and campus initiatives in sustainability and program growth. Her teaching foregrounds clarity, ethics, and problem-practice through iterative studios, short-format labs, and community-engaged projects that invite students to work on projects with public impact.
