Dr. Umair Gauhar obtained his medical education from King Edward Medical College (now University) in Pakistan. He completed internal medicine residency training at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) followed by fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the same institution. Following his training, he stayed on UAB as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and focussed his practice on lung cancer, lung nodules and bronchoscopy. After two years on faculty, Dr. Gauhar left UAB to complete an advanced fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology (IP) at The Ohio State University. After completion of his training in IP, he joined University of Louisville in 2013 where he leads the interventional pulmonary program. He performs all aspected of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy (including robotic bronchoscopy), pleural procedures including medical thoracoscopy, pleural biopsies, indwelling pleural catheter placement, tracheostomy and endobronchial valve placement for COPD. 

Dr. Gauhar practices at the University of Louisville Hospital (downtown), Jewish Hospital (downtown), Norton Hospital (downtown) and Jewish Hospital South (Bullitt County).
