Dr. Virginia Barbosa, M.D. is an Assistant Professor at the University of Lousiville Department of Pediatrics and pediatric psychiatrist with the Norton Children’s Behavioral & Mental Health located at the Norton Children's Autism Center. She earned her medical degree from the University of Brasília-Brazil. She completed her general psychiatry residencies at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas/UNICAMP, São Paulo- Brazil, and at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Barbosa completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and, for 10 years served as the Medical Director of the CRCCC agency located in southeastern KY, joining the University of Louisville in 2021. She is board certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP),currently serving as co-chair of the rural psychiatry committe. She is passionate about the care of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities.
