Vivek R Sharma, MD, FACP specializes in Hematology and Medical Oncology and is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville. His clinical focus is in the areas of Benign Hematology and GI Medical Oncology, and he has been in practice for over 20 years. He is the Director of the Hemophilia program in Louisville and the Medical Director of the GI oncology program at the Brown Cancer Center.

Dr. Sharma has led over 40 clinical trials as principal investigator including co-operative group, CDC and industry sponsored studies. His clinical research is focused primarily on GI cancer and hemophilia, and he has also been involved with basic and translational cancer research in collaboration with other researchers at the Brown Cancer Center. Dr. Sharma has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles, numerous abstracts, and book chapters. He also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple medical journals.

Dr. Sharma is passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. He has also delivered numerous formal lectures on topics ranging from coagulation disorders to cancer biology since 2002. He is an active member of ASH, ASCO, ISTH and the American College of Physicians (where he became a Fellow in 2005) and has served on committees like the Hemophilia Advisory Committee for Kentucky.
