Viviana Andreescu is a Professor and the Program Director of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice at the University of Louisville.  She received her BA. from the University of Bucharest, Romania and her MA, MS, and PhD degrees from the University of Louisville. In addition, she studied at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies, Austria. Her research interests cluster around four areas that often overlap: empirical testing of criminological theory; violent crime and fear of crime; policing; and human rights and social justice issues related to social minorities, in national and international contexts.

Dr. Andreescu made over 100 presentations at national and international professional meetings. Her recent work has been published in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Journal of School Violence, Punishment & Society, Deviant Behavior, Critical Criminology, Criminal Justice Review, International Criminal Justice Review, Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice, Journal of Ethnicity in Substance Abuse, Policing: An International Journal, International Journal of Police Science & Management, Crime Prevention & Community Safety, and Gender & Crime.  She teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs courses on statistics, research methods, criminological theory, women and crime, and criminal justice program evaluation.
