Prof. Zhang received his B.S. in Radiochemistry from Lanzhou University in 1989 and his M.S. in Nuclear Physics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992. He earned his Ph.D. at Purdue University in 2001. After three years working in industry as a Senior Scientist, he returned to Purdue as a Research Assistant Professor. In 2008, he joined the University of Louisville’s Department of Chemistry, where he now serves as Professor and Director of the Center for Regulatory & Environmental Analytical Metabolomics (CREAM). His research focuses on creating advanced high-throughput technologies to study complex biological samples, helping to uncover new insights into molecular identification, quantification, and biological networks. He has published more than 230 scientific papers, with his research supported by over 40 federal grants.
