BIO

Yibing Nong, M.D., Ph.D. is a researcher and Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Center for Cardiometabolic Science (CCS) in Division of Environmental Medicine, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine. He has serviced as director of the Physiology Core in the CCS since 2022. Dr. Nong has supported more than 24 past and current research grants and has 22 publications in basic research in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Nong is passionate about the mission of the Physiology Core to develop and implement surgical animal models, invasive/non-invasive cardiovascular function measurements and novel integrated physiological approaches to support the investigators in the School of Medicine, as well as others on campus. The major focus of these investigations is metabolic, immunologic, toxocologic, and fibrotic causes and consequences of cardiovascular health and disease. 
Dr. Nong received a M.D. degree in 2000 and a Ph.D. degree in 2005 from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Beijing, China. He served as a clinical cardiologist for 8 years and Associate Clinical Professor for 5 years at Dongfang Hospital, Beijing, China. During that period, he published more than 2 dozen publications (in Chinese). He refocused to basic research and finished basic research training in Emory University, Atlanta, Geogia (2009-2011), and in University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky (2013-2016). He has served as a faculty member at U of L School of Medicine since 2016.
