Dr. Yunmei Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Louisville, where she directs the Modeling Interaction, cogNition, and Decision-making by AI (MINDxAI) Lab. She also directs the Human-Centric AI Theme at at the Center for Human Systems Engineering (CHSE). In addition, Dr. Liu is affiliated with the Louisville Automation & Robotics Research Institute (LARRI), further emphasizing her engagement in cutting-edge research in automation and robotics.

Dr. Liu’s research focuses on developing human-centric AI systems that can understand and adapt to human needs and real-world constraints. Her application areas include transportation, healthcare, aviation, manufacturing, and education. Her MINDxAI lab has been supported by the National Science Foundation and her work has been published in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems, Applied Ergonomics, and the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies. She serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems, regularly reviews for top-tier journals and conferences in human factors and human-computer interaction, and frequently participates on NSF review panels.
